Born in Seoul, Heejung moved to the UK at the age of eleven to continue her musical training.
She commenced her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of Renna Kellaway and Helen Krizos. Her postgraduate studies were generously funded by the Musician’s Benevolent Fund and the Else and Leonard Cross Charitable Trust. Further studies include masterclasses at the IMS Prussia Cove, Accademia Chigiana in Siena and also at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada.
Heejung has given solo and ensemble recitals all over the country in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Bridgewater, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool and at music festivals including Lichfield, Chichester, Duffield and Peterborough. She was also the recipient of the Park Lane Award with her duo, Kesh Piano Duo with whom she has toured the U.K. extensively and has given concerts in Austria and Latvia. For many years Heejung served as the official accompanist at the Lakes District International Summer Music Academy.
Heejung gave the critically acclaimed UK Premier performance of John Corigliano’s work ‘Chiaroscuro for two pianos quarter tone apart’.
