Phil11-1180x1782Philip is an experienced musical director, vocal coach, accompanist and rehearsal pianist based in London. He has been working in the industry for almost ten years. He regularly works with professional musicians, amateurs and children both individually and in groups such as choirs, professional theatre productions and drama schools.
Philip is the Musical Director of the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir, winners of the 2015 Christmas Number 1. He has led the choir through many successful performances, including opening the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury, the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium and Christmas with the Stars at the Royal Albert Hall. He arranges a lot of their repertoire; many of these arrangements were used on their debut album ‘Something Inside So Strong’ with Decca records, for which he conducted and led the recording. He has been commissioned to arrange tracks for the choir for their collaborations with many high profile musicians such as Elbow, Reef, Tinie Tempah, Squeeze, Tony Momrelle and Russell Watson for both performances and recordings.
He also works regularly with other choirs including the Adam Street Singers (Choir of the Year Finalists), the Citibank Choir (The Choir – BBC1) and Diversity Choir.
Some of Philip’s educational work includes the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, The Emil Dale School of Performing Arts, Hackney Music Development Trust, Mad Hatters Theatre School and Special Needs workshops Armonico Consort and Music For Life Foundation.
As a Musical Director, he has worked on many Theatre productions including Cinderella (Bath Theatre Royal), Jesus Christ Superstar (Barnes Community Players), Twist & Shout (UK Tour), Halbwelt Kultur (Jermyn Street Theatre), Bonnie & Clyde (King’s Head Theatre), Eurocrash the Musical (UK & European Tour) and Dreams from the Pit (Palace Theatre). 2nd Keys credits include Les Miserables, Hairspray and Grease.
Philip also works on television projects. Recently he was heavily involved in the pitch to the BBC for the choir show ‘Pitch Battle’, for which he led rehearsals, helped with arrangements and vocal coaching sessions. Philip was the accompanist and rehearsal assistant on Gareth Malone’s Invictus Choir (BBC1)
